Dr. Alan Whitfield is a retired mathematics lecturer and the founder of Conceptual Math. Over a long teaching career he became convinced that understanding — not memorisation — is what makes math stick, and he writes to pass that conviction on.

He writes every essay himself, checks each explanation carefully, and answers reader questions at alan@conceptualmath.org.
